LTE Model - Possible to disable any extra LTE services?

I'm looking to upgrade from my Nexus 7 (2012) and the Shield Tablet looks like the winner... except that I want the 32GB of storage but don't intend to use LTE. I imagine that I could just keep the tablet in airplane mode and enable WiFi/Bluetooth, but I read that there are some extra AT&T apks installed. I don't intend to root the tablet. Are they all able to be disabled through the Settings -> Apps interface?

There doesn't appear to be a way to disable that app. I haven't even thought about it, though, since initial set up. Once I removed the att widget from the home screen, the app icon just sits in the drawer ignored.

I removed my sim card and do the airplane mode plus WiFi on thing and it works fine. I get good standby times when the tablet is set up this way.

There is one att app, if you don't want any cellular service, don't install a Sim card
