Gorilla Glass Epic Fail
This is my Epic 4g. Not so epic anymore. It was in between my legs in my car and I forgot it was there, so when I got out, it flew out and smacked the concrete, face down. The Gorilla Glass had been great up to that point, but now that its cracked, its weak (makes sense). I brought it into a Sprint store and they were just amazed, they said they had never seen a cracked Epic before. I have actually been using it for the past month like this, it's still completely usable, but it kinda takes the beauty away from the Super AMOLED Display :/

I have been throwing my Fascinate around for a while now. It refuses to break and its seen some nasty falls. The camera lens actually cracked before the screen.

I cracked the inside panel of glass on my old droid x. The gorilla glass on the outside wasn't touched. I have pics posted in the droid x forum on here. They ate a ways back but the phone was still usable, just couldn't see nothing...Lol...

Dropped my Epic 1 month to the day from the top of a fire truck. 1 single crack, top to bottom, dead center. $100.

Right, and Samsung as well as Corning have stated all Galaxy S models. I think the Epic would be included in that classifcation, seeing how it is a Galaxy S phone. Just use Google it's not like there is a shortage of info on the very subject you are contesting right now. I have dropped mine on the concrete several times, sometimes thinking it was going to end up like all of those i-phone screens I hear about, not even a scratch. You people just buy in to the mass hysteria the retailers tell you because they want to make a buck. I have even sat on mine forgetting I had it in my back pocket, didn't break. IDK maybe I have the only one that has Gorilla Glass or maybe I am just lucky each time.
Or hear you go from our own home turf Androidcentral.com on one of their front pages stating all Galaxy S phones have Gorilla Glass produced by Corning. Here is the link: http://www.androidcentral.com/samsun...combine-powers
Now watch a screen protector company pay them to take it down.Last edited by izzydead; 03-21-2011 at 02:09 AM. Reason: evidence

Isn't GG supposed to be extraordinarily scratchproof though? My Epic has two short (~4mm) but deep scratches that it picked up just from being in my pocket. After going through two iPhones that now look like Wolverine has been texting on them, I treat this Epic with kid gloves and ALWAYS carry it in my left pocket, all by itself. Keys and other poky scratchy things go in my right pocket. The Epic seems even more prone to scratches than the iPhones though, so I don't believe the Gorilla Glass assertion.

There is a big difference between scratch proof and resistant.
