FEATURED LAUNCHERS;
In this post I will talk about the well known ADW Launcher and GO Launcher EX, But also the lesser known Launcher7 and SlideScreen Pro.

Pictures of each will be included showing home screen, app drawer and settings menu.


ADW Launcher;
ADW Launcher seems to be the most well known and most used launcher by the android community. I kno it was my first alternative launcher before I started learning more about the androidOS.

GO Launcher EX;
GO Launcher EX is my fav. Its fits all my needs somehwhat right. somewhat. better than others. lol
Granted it has less themes avaliable, thats the downfall.

Launcher7;
Launcher 7 I often switch to when I need something simple and clean. literally. I love it for that reason. It resembles the windows 7 phone. DUH. xD


A Windows Phone 7 style launcher for Android.
Unlike other current WP7 launchers (Windows Phone Android, Metro UI), this one allows you to properly modify your start screen. Just long press on a tile and drag tile where you want!
This version is free, but does have an ad in application list. Ad free donate version is available if you don't like the ad.

SlideScreen Pro;
If I had a business and needed a screen showing Calls/Voice messages/Texts/Alarms/Calenders/weather/plus more....... I would so use it. XD But once I do remove all the elements I would'nt use...... I'm left with 4. weather/facebook/texting/phone. I fail badly lol.
So all in all...... its an amazing launcher.

I am a old guy that is 10 months into using an android phone (I am having a lot of fun), and most of what you said went way over my head. Your post was very good and an enjoyable read for me. I will, I think, start with learning more about launchers and maybe later try to learn about rooting, rom and all that stuff. Thanks again for you informative post.

I enjoyed this post, I've never used Launcher7 but now i know. I know i prefer Go Launcher Ex by far. It responds so quickly on my phone and has some good themes. Really hoping for more soon though. Anyway, thanks for the post!!!

Thanks for the post. I haven't heard of the last two launchers. You should also throw Launcher Pro in there. I loved that one but love Go Launcher Ex most.

Just a note: that SlideScreen launcher was discontinued by the developers just under a month ago. Shame, but at least they provided a link to the last released version in that blog post. I'm using it now, it's pretty neat (and very stylish!).

Personally I usually use Zeam. It's pretty lightweight, and it's easy to customize.

The home screen, settings, and app drawer. those are the launcher pic examples I am doing for now cause thats what we usually want to know. :]

First pic is the home screen with some custom icons. I just switched over real quick to my old set up, minus the widgets. The dock scrolls like it does on GoLauncher so you can have 5 icons in each dock and I think it goes up to 3 or 5.

Second is the settings screen, pretty standard.

Third is the app drawer, scrolls up and down.

Launcher Pro Plus is the donate version and it comes with specialty widgets like a Messaging widget, FB widget, Calendar widget, Twitter widget. They all look very nice and you can theme it from different packs in the market. I had some issues with the widgets draining my battery down very quickly.

Fede (the dev) is on top of things when it comes to updates etc. He's really gone all out with Launcher Pro.

Another person mentioned Zeam and I know I've seen a few who like that one. Might be something to throw in there too.

Idk I like open home. You can use go launcher skins and adw. I bought the key, and it allows the same customizing as adw.

You might consider doing a review of:

DXHome DXR and
Nemus Launcher as well

Nemus is really light weight, but has some nice features as well

LauncherPro Plus all the way...Many launchers offer a scrolling dock bar but LPP also has awesome scrollable calander, contact, messaging, facebook etc. widgets. Also don't have to download all the added plugins for widgets like Go LauncherEX. Its is my favorite by a wide margin. But second is Adw, EX is nice but not just an expansion of ADW but an oddly different layout, but both have awesome customization but no scrollable docks...sad. Although, i guess latest updates have a launch bar type second dock.
