S3 Rooting (with every possible roadblock)

Hey Guys,
I have had the AT&T S3 for 6 months now, and I am thinking about rooting it and then putting CM10 on it. But, it won't be so easy, because:
I have a Macbook Pro (which I think is sinful in the Android community. Think I should switch to PC?)
I already put 4.1.1 on the S3.
I'm not a great coder (but I can give it a shot.)
Can anyone give me a good way to root the device, and then explain how to put on CM10?
Even if you can't help entirely, any advice is really appreciated.

Be very, very careful. I have a MacBook pro, and i partitioned the hard drive using BootCamp. All this in preparation of rooting my AT&T S3. Being on the "Windows" side of the Mac, i proceeded to root my phone, and froze it instead. It is unusable now, but makes a great paperweight.:'(
