Hi,

I'm looking to create a DIY Google Home powered smart display. I've been researching and found that they use an app on Android Things called "Smart Display" (which provides things like the UI etc used on the Lenovo Smart Display, JBL Link View, et al). From this, I have 2 questions:

  1. Can this app be accessed for installation on a device? If so, where?
  2. Is there a minimum resolution required?

Context: I'm hoping to go 5" (easier to fit on the desk, almost like an Echo Spot over an Echo Show), but I've only been able to find touchscreen monitors at 800x480 resolution at that size. Have to go 7" for the resolution to match that of the Google Home Hub (the smallest commercially available smart display from Google). The UI of the Google Home Hub works nicely, and would like to bring this to a slightly smaller device. I'm happy to build a DIY one, but I'd just need to cover this base. I'd be looking to use a Raspberry Pi as the brawn (looked at the Qualcomm board and at almost $600 for the board... yikes!), with the Android Things Smart Display as the brains.
