Question Are modified versions of WhatsApp safe to use?

I've come across numerous individuals who use altered versions of WhatsApp. They opt for these versions because they offer a wide range of features that the original WhatsApp lacks. I've heard rumors that WhatsApp modders can gain access to and pilfer our internal storage. So, do they actually engage in such activities? Are these modified versions safe to use?

I would avoid modified WhatsApp's! Not only because of the security problem you mentioned, but because I wouldn't be surprised if Facebook (the owners of WhatsApp) would block you for using a modified WhatsApp.

I would also avoid WhatsApp itself, as Facebook has acquired the app and partly compromised its security. WhatsApp is still more secure than SMS, but Signal is more secure than WhatsApp.
