I am looking to take a short break from years of Windows Phone for an Android. I'm not looking to make a huge $5,675 investment in 8k , deca-core, 1500Mah device and am only looking to spend around $250

I adore big and beautiful displays which is why I have spent so much time with the great Lumia 1520 and also see the camera as an important factor for me. Even though I don't plan on using the android device for the next year or so (probably just a month or two), I still can't settle for a crappy camera.

Coming from a 1520 and an ICON (I currently have it listed over in the windows central marketplace if you wanna check it out), my camera standards are far from low. I like good OIS, high resolution photos, and although far from as important from they above,I like good low light performance as well. If the camera itself can't do a good job in low light then I at least want the flash to make up for it :).. These are all things the ICON and 1520 do well in the camera department plus more... OH and if I didn't have to lose Dolby 5.1 surround sound recording with video that I have on my ICON that would be nice too!

Currently the phones that fill in most of these check boxes the best I have noticed so far are the LG G3 and Nexus 6

The LG G3 has a better camera I believe? But the Nexus 6's metal and 6 inch screen appeal more to me coming from a 1520 (also the stock android is a bonus)... but I've heard bad things about the Nexus 6 camera :p

Am I missing anything? Thoughts? Suggestions?

The ASUS ZenFone 2 is worth considering. The top-of-the-line model goes for $299 (with 4 GB RAM, 64 GB internal storage, and decent Atom Z3580 processor). The camera is pretty good--I used it as my exclusive camera on a recent trip to France and Switzerland, and captured some really nice shots. Low light shots are ok--the camera has a special low light mode, but it's not going to be as good as the flagships.

Here are some selected shots:

Moto G 3rd Gen uses the same camera as the nexus 6 and costs only $200.
Samsung Galaxy S5 has great camera according to reviews and costs around $300.
Older Xperia phones like Z2 also have good camera.
Newer phones like One plus X, Zenfone 2, Xiomi Mi4,etc are also good options.

These are all some great options! Looks like I have some review watching to do. The only immediate X I might have to cross is probably the ZenPhone 2. Although the shots taken above were awesome, I don't like the design and that's one of my top three priorities when it comes to a smartphone. Which is why I'd take the Nexus 6 over it. The N6 according to reviews and shots I've seen apparently has a mediocre camera, but if it means I get a beautiful design and better display (I like phablets! The 6" L1520 was awesome!) then I'm willing. (I'd just buy a L830 or something to use as a camera)

I've also been looking at the Letv One... You guys should check it out. It's virtually unknown I'm the U.S, but I'm considering it.

Be very careful with that device and others similar to it. As someone mentioned in the other thread it's a knock-off of different design components (hardware and softwre) and for those reasons alone won't be sold or distributed in most places outside China. Also, phones like this often times are not supported by the manufacturer in terms of warranty repair and updates.
