I've grown tired of Chrome's seemingly endless appetite for RAM and it's profiling of my use. I'm looking for something less resource intensive and more private. I don't care about synchronizing with other devices, but don't want something so bare bones that there is no configurability or customization. I'm currently trying the Via browser and am impressed so far, but open to other suggestions.

How about Firefox? Brave is nice and all, but I would like a future where everything isn't chromium based.
Good point, and that's the exact reason I skipped Brave (though it's superior to Chrome for privacy). Dunno how I overlooked Firefox, I use it on my Windows computers, and it's an obvious choice. I'll try it next!

Firefix is one of only two browsers (which I know of) that still get updates on Android 5. Hopefully, that's a sign that Firefox is committed to Android. It's ironic that even Google's own broswer (Chrome) requiers Android 8+!
