does anyone else hate how the led indicator is behind the earpiece grill?

I don't mind it at all. It is much smaller than many notification lights. I imagine the reason they didn't put a BIG HUGE LED LIGHT on the phone might have had to do with power consumption :)

Most phones have a light you can actually see. If they were so worried about power consumption they should have included a battery > 1400 like the 1600 I just ordered that fits in the same size compartment. The light is there so you don't have to turn on the phone over and over to check to see if you have messages when you have to have the sound off. I'm guessing turning the screen on and off all day long uses more power than a small flashing light.

No one said anything about a huge led. If all they did was put the same led so it sits flush with the surface of the outer shell, you could see it without having to turn it at an angle where you have to look behind the earpiece grill.

It opens the same direction as the charging port...hence you can't use the stand and the charger at the same time in landscape orientation.

yeah I had a brain fart thinking he was having problems with his LED notifications
because of his kickstand hehe

If you think the kickstand and the LED light were crappy ideas you guys would hate going into the casino industry.

For example:
We have slot machines called "Slims" basically the monitor is 2 inches from the locking mechanism. To be able to repair the lock you have to take the monitor out first then repair the lock and put the monitor back in. **** drives me insane.

Compared to that the kickstand and light aren't huge deals. The phone charges fine in portrait and you can see the light clearly from across the room in portrait and landscape while the kickstand is deployed

I gave up on non-RIM made LEDs a while ago. I've used a ton of Android phones and an iPhone since my Berry and they don't compare at all.

Haha it just amazes me that RIM is behind on a TON of stuff, yet the simple things like keyboard, LED, call quality, Reception are ALWAYS spot on.

i have had two BB from work and the calls are horrible. I can hear them fine. They could hardly hear me, like it was chopped up or something. And not a reception thing, happened many times with full reception. I'll grab my personal cell and call back and they say much better. And this has been with several diff phones I have had for personal use since then.

I can care less about the notification light on the the BB. Just not a big thing to me.

The only thing I Like about BB over any other phone I have had is it's not so aggressive spell check. But that might be because they have keyboards.

Well their call quality is generally seen as very good. Obviously there are a million factors that effect it and people will not all have the same experience.

But anyway, the spell check is the keyboard, your right. And I miss the LED but obviously there is a reason I love android now! :p
