I have an LG phone, it has a filemanager.
From kitkat onwards only the built in filemanager can modify and move in SDcard.

However I created a AndroidVirtualDevice (AVD) in eclipse. It is supposedly a stock kitkat. I fould no file manager app!

So stock kitkat has no filemanager? Is it an addon app from LG or samsung?

I'm not sure about AOSP, but no Nexus I've owned has had one; I've always had to install it from the Play Store.

Every android I have had has had a file manager. Currently using a Galaxy s5 and it has one called My Files.

It does suck that a good file manager like ES File Explorer cannot directly write to the SD card, but you can get around that. I set up a file on Device Storage which I labeled Transfer. ES can write to Device Storage and then the stock file manager can be used to transfer to the SD card.

It is strange that Google wants you to jump through hoops merely to write to your own SD card.
