Droid Maxx 4.4.4 KK Using Dalvik Keeps Freezing & Glitching... Help?!

I am having numerous problems with my Droid Maxx (using Verizon). It keeps freezing, ignoring commands (such as deleting messages, using the home screen button, etc.), won't allow me to make phone calls and send text messages, and the battery life tanks overnight (70% battery to 15% in 8 hours on standby). I am running version 4.4.4 KitKat on Dalvik runtime. I have the bluetooth off, the wifi on, my home location set, and I have tried just about everything except a factory reset. Can anyone help? I am reading a lot of chatter about having to wait for the Android L update months from now- Since my phone is nearly bricked and I don't have an upgrade for another year, I need a solution now, not in months! Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
