Fingerprint sensor

Is there anything that I can do to improve the functionality of the fingerprint sensor. I find that it is absolutely horrible when compared to the sensor on the pixel 3A that I just stopped using. It is very frustrating to have to go and type in my password when the fingerprint sensor does not operate correctly. I have used two fingerprints one from the index finger on my right hand and the second is my thumb from the left hand. The sensor seems to have a mind of its own unfortunately.

I find if you hold your finger there for about a second firmly it works much better. Also a slightly moistened finger helps.

I have a screen protector on mine and the FPR works great every time.

Sorry I didn't get back to the forum sooner.
I don't use a screen saver.
My only comment is that it is garbage compared to others that I have used
