If you have root please give this a try. This is an Xposed Module that will let you customize the UI of you G Pad. It was originally made for the G2 but it should work because it is still LG's skin. Below are some of the features:

-Black status bar
-Brightness and Volume slider remover
-Volume notification pane button to switch modes
-Replaced menu key with recent apps key (Long press for menu key)
-Cleaned up recent apps panel (removed clear and task manager)
-Added menu over flow to all apps
1.1
-Added option to remove brightness from notification window
-Added option to remove quick settings from notification window
1.2
-Complete navigation bar customization, 7 different key choices
-Navigation key and glow color options
-Navigation bar size selection
-Option to remove either the volume, brightness, or both sliders
-Disable the navigation bar for pie
-New settings layout
1.3
-Fixed any system crashes when keyboard was open
-Added an additional 4 long press button actions
-Added blue color to buttons
-Added new help menu
-Added remove carrier label from notification panel
1.4
-New long press volume key music switcher
-Brightness and Volume sliders can now be toggled through the settings button in the notification panel
-Transparent status and navigation bar (Works on your default launcher)
-Black statusbar now merged into colored navigation and status bars
-Navigation buttons can now be customized live (no restart required)
-Hide AM/PM from clock
-Hide clock
-Hide battery icon
-Hide alarm
-Hide Carrier label (in status bar)
-Center Clock
-Ability to completely disable all navigation bar modifications
-Fixed navigation keys from not setting in landscape
-Fixed disabled navbar from showing up in landscape
-Fixed navigation key images not centering vertically

Do this at your own risk, I don't have my G Pad yet. Soft bricks may occur and a restore will be needed.

To install:

1. Download the Xposed Installer APK and install it
2. Launch the Xposed Installer, go to the "Framework" section and click on "Install/Update"
3. Reboot
4. Done!

Next install the G2 module:

1. Download G2.apk and install it (customize it before or after through the G2 app)
2. Launch the Xposed Installer and go to the "Modules" section
3. Enable the module by checking the checkbox
4. Reboot
5. Done!

Below are the forums for the two developers that made this happen, ask questions or get help with bugs here:
[XPOSED][Nov 3] G2 Xposed - Complete Nav Bar Customization - Transparent bar - xda-developers
[FRAMEWORK ONLY!] Xposed - ROM modding without modifying APKs (2.3.1)(10.10.2013) - xda-developers

PLEASE let me know what works and what doesn't... I can't wait to see it in action.

Thanks, I was hoping these mods would make their way to the G Pad! Hopefully I can test them out later tonight or tomorrow some time.

No issues at all. Used it on my g2 as well. Actually there is one issue I found. If you change the size of your navigation bar, some apps may not work. Themed for instance on my g2 won't work now because it says its not finding a supported resolution. Not a huge deal but just a heads up for anyone wanting to make changes.

No issues at all with it? This is really tempting because I hate the software menu button.

Give it a try, if you find any issues report them to the developer through the help dection, if you have trouble just uninstall

FYI BlackDino is unblocking the G Pad from the play store so you can now get it from the store!

I too tried this out today with success! On another note, I was finally able to pick up Sprint's version of the G2. My life is complete...at least for the next two years!

Installed on gpad 7 v41010d 4.4.2,xposed 2.7,g2 xposed 2.0.7

Only allows 3 nav keys,I can't get the default keys back.

Never realized the backup function (duh)Works great on my G2.

FC when I try button combinations from settings.

How to restore default nav buttons?
Thanks.
