Optimize mode is the performance mode the phone comes in, along with 1080p, I left it on the mode it came in but change the screen to
1440p (wqhd+) that has virtually no impact on the battery
Main thing is that you have a great signal full bars if possible (I live in Manhattan, New York)
I keep location off (don't use it unless I need it)
WiFi I only use it when I'm home
I turn it off when I leave for work everyday
No I didn't use power saving mode
Don't need to on this phone (unless you go camping for a week or something)
S8 plus, midnight black, t-mobile
Hmm no impact on battery? I've always heard having the phone on wqhd+ is a massive drain.

I think 5pm to 9am with 62% is very good so far the best battery life I've got from a phone.

Ok, here is something interesting. I observed that the last three screenshot posted from peppythetruth, Anthony Mclean all have an SOT of 7 hours and 5 minutes. To achieve this SOT, the battery consumption is different for the three of them. One of them used 1200mah, another one used 1400mah and a last one used 1800mah. I assume this difference is due to different screen settings such as brightness or resolution.
So I decided to go check out my own battery consumption for the screen. At 10% battery, I used 740mah of my battery for 3h37 SOT. If you do the maths, its not excessive. Alll you need to do is double is to see that with 1400mah i would have gotten 7hrs SOT just like everyone else. My problem is that i did not have those extra Mah to use because they were wasted somewhere else.

So my goal is to know where the rest of my 3500mah battery went ! Why do you three get to spend 1400 mah of your battery on the screen, and I only get half of that !
I took details screenshot of all the tabs in the battery section, and I am hoping that one of you will be able to compare, and maybe spot a diffenrence, so I can have a better indication as to what I am doing wrong.....

Here they are. Anything abnormal?

I have a problem with android os keeping my phone awake longer than the cpu time. Is this normal and if not how can I fix it? Here are the screenshots @70%

I got my first s8+ when they came out. As you can see by my other posts, my battery life was horrible. The people at Best Buy thought I had a defective phone and replaced it. I got a new s8+ on 5/5. Both of my phones had an update available right out of the box. On my first phone I did the update immediately. On the second one I waited a day. Out of the box, my second phone had 51% battery. I was able to get 4.5 hours of SOT on that 51%. After this I was positive the first phone had to be defective. So day 2, I installed the update on my second phone. From then on, my battery life has sucked again. Anyone else have an update right out of the box? Could something with this update be the cause of horrible battery life? I have AT&T by the way.

I work from home. On wifi all day. My signal strength from att is poor. 1-2 bars usually. I have NO social media apps whatsoever.

That's your problem right there
1 or 2 bars (very bad signal) I draining your battery, your phone will keep searching for cellular network even when its on WiFi (it needs the cel network for texts and regular phonecalls)
Only thing you can do is shut off your data
What I would do to test this out is
Turn on airplane mode and then turn on WiFi, that would shut off your data and stop the battery drain, try that and see how your battery performs
You absolutely need to have great signal to have a great battery life
I live in Manhattan, New York and have 5 bars almost all the time (a lot of cel towers in NY) , and this is what I got when trying to stretch may battery
s8+, location off, screen at wqhd+, brightness on auto, always on display on, WiFi only when at home (turn it off as soon as I leave for work
You need to leave AT&T and find a provider with much better signal in your area

In practice that is not entirely true. I have poor signal 1-2 bars most of the time. Everyone tried to convince me that this was the reason why I get 4 hours of SOT only on my s8+.... So i did that exact test for one full day. I toggled airplane mode for the entire day and used the phone on wifi only. As a result I achieved 4h45 mins instead of 4 hours. Sure its an improvement, but only an extra 45 minutes for being on airplane mode all day?
According to your previous results, you probably would have gotten 3 days of SOT if you were on airplane more !

So no, signal is not what is killing our battery, but feel free to try if you want to...

Check this. I had unplugged the device around 8.30 am and after 7 hours I find 'Phone Radio' responsible for 62% of the drain. Been at my office the whole time and signal is pretty decent as you can see. The total battery drained is 1300mAH (44% of the 3000mAH S8) and out of which 800mAH has been drained by Phone Radio!! This is roughly 2mAH/min and the rate of drain is similar to that of the Screen (160mAH over 73 mins). Guys who are topping 6+hrs SOT are either completely on wifi or they have 10bars of LTE signal!!!
Any thoughts (and help) on this mighty mAH killer?! Screenshot_20170509-153128.jpg

6.2% battery drained per hour will mean 16 hrs of endurance. 44% battery drained in 2 1/2 hours of active usage will mean 7 hrs of usage. This is basically my iPhone 7 rebranded as Samsung S8!

Well each case is totally different, or we would all have the same exact battery life. Signal can make a huge difference, just because it isn't your issue doesn't mean that it isn't his. We all have different apps, use, time of day, signal strength, brightness so many variables. It is always possible that you have a bad phone as well, when Samsung manufactures millions of phone some are going to have issues.

Steven I would suggest you do a warranty exchange if possible, but I am willing to bet at least some of your issue is the cellular roaming or the fact that you are using an Exynos processor. Last year the Snapdragon wasn't as good on battery life this year it may have flipped.

I am getting great battery life on my S8+ on T-Mobile
When I work from home on WiFi all day I can get almost 8 hours SOT
When I go to the office where there is horrible cell reception I get 6 hours SOT

I have my display resolution set to HD+. I have the display brightness slider at just under 50%. Which is plenty bright enough for me. I can adjust it if I am outdoors

I also have battery optimizations turn on with app monitoring. So when an app (like Facebook) consumes too much battery/power in the background.... it will be put to sleep
Love to use battery optimizations....they are a life saver
