If you are within return period, return as defective and if it improves via update later buy it again potentially on sale. If the device is defective, you shouldn't be held to any kind of restocking fee. If they insist on it, you can just dispute with your bank.
I believe it is purely a software issue that Honor can resolve. I am thinking about returning but if I return it I doubt I would return to it. I really like the device but....
If I return the only device what I could I get in its stead, Axon 7...been there (though they say the update fixes it)... One plus...been there but my device had to be returned.... Not an s7/edge lover.....but for some reason I love the Note 7 but it is not available from T-Mobile yet.....so I am left with the iPhone 6s.
So it is hard for me to return this phone...the alternatives while good, don't quite match the the feeling I get with this phone save for the Note 7.
Come on SW update!!!!!
