How do I reset an alternate password on the Tab S?

Reset alternate password on Tab S

Samsung Tab S: my son managed to lock the screen after incorrectly scanning his finger prints. He has forgotten his alternate password. I have logged onto Samsung.account .com and Android Device Manager to unlock device, but neither are finding the device. Please Help.

Welcome to Android Central! Some devices will prompt you for your Google account if you fail too many times--does that happen with the Tab S? If not, then you may have to bite the bullet and do a hardware factory reset: Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 - Master rest via hardware and software
