Messages come in distorted while music is playing

While I'm using android auto and listening to Spotify, my notifications from text or navigation come in distorted while any music is playing. If I pause the music, the message will come in just fine and music will unpause itself after the message cycle completes. It's almost like there is no priority being given to messages over music.

Here is a link to a video I took of it happening. In the video, I sent myself a text with music paused, and you can hear the message. I replay the message with the music on, and you can not understand any audio until the message is complete. I turn off the music again and you can hear the message.
