2 questions - Nexus 4 phone will not display info, just photos. I've seen that you need either software or a command, Which is it, how to do it, and where to get it?

The 4.1 * version of Skype simply will not pick up the the microphone and speakers at the same time. If I test both in Mint, Mint has no trouble - both work and so does the webcam.
The webcam works in Skype. The webcam and mike are very generic.
Is there anywhere reliable to get a older version of Skype? I've searched and I wouldn't touch most of the results with a 10 foot pole.

Thanks

As if the release of ics, all android devices use mtp. Unfortunately compatibility for it is not built into the generic Linux kernel yet.

There is a thread on xda, that will get you working, I also run mint 14 and following it I was able to get my s4 to fully connect to my pc. Sorry I can't give you the link I don't remember where it is on xda, but a quick search in Google should work for you. Like "MTP on linux" or something similar. It just involves using the terminal to install some files/tweaks in your system.
