And being the ultra nerd I am, this is why Android combined with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 series SoC and a very specific old version of Limbo PC Emulator is very important to me! If Android ever becomes too locked down, all of this heaven will be gone. Luckily this emulator and my favorite file manager both *seem* to support SAF so I'm probably safe when I am forced to give up Android Pie...

Good luck with that. I am using a hard drive image of Windows XP Netbook Edition (one of those unofficial Lite XP versions) that a YouTuber (won't mention which one) put out because I was too lazy to make the drive image myself. Was still to slow even on my S8 (which is a gazillion times faster at emulation that the tablet used in the picture), so I disabled all non-critical services except "Themes" and it is now pretty decent on the S8 but still very slow on the tablet.

Windows 7 on my S8. Instead of the old method that used a CD based boot able Win7 Enterprise environment and a different emulator (limbo doesn't like live CDs, so I had to use lBochs), I downloaded a QEMU qcow2 HDD image (for limbo) of an unofficial "Lite" Windows 7 and clicked "disable all" in msconfig to make it faster. Still slow as hell but now kinda useable takes only 4-5min to boot compared to the half hours the old method took. I don't even want to know how badly this would perform on my tablet, but I might try at some point.

Back when Android felt so much more open, free and happy. Ahhhh good times (dying of CyanogenMod nostalgia here).
