New galaxy tab A8 - apps listings odd...

[Android Central Question]

I got a new Galaxy Tab A8, and after install and transferring from an older Galaxy Tablet I had to enable the home page "apps" icon,
but then the subsequent pages of individual apps listings, instead of the traditional full pages of apps in alphabetical order, it has 16 pages of partial listings - mostly in alpha order on each page, but not between pages.
In the previous smaller tablet it was 9 smaller pages (5x6 tiles), so why is it all spread out on the new one, (9 pages of 6x5 partially full) and any way to restore a typical arrangement?

Welcome to Android Central! Tap the 3-dot menu button in the upper right corner of the App Drawer, then Sort, then choose Alphabetical Order.
