The phone gets very hot when I use the camera which, due to the heat, tears up my battery pretty badly. Any ideas what this could be and how to stop it?

First photo with the phone, didn't really try and the car is dirty (and clearly not a compact car, but I parked there anyways).

Can't wait to take some proper photos.

I put most of my photos up on Instagram so I'm just going to link some of the ones I prefer that I took with my Nexus 6P.

For post-processing I mostly use Snapseed for lifting the shadows or pulling back the highlights but lately I have also been using Lightroom for Android. These have all been taken using the stock camera app with HDR+ on since the 6P really benefits from HDR+ given the poor dynamic range its sensor has.

This one's from Google+

I took this picture last night when I went to the store, because I don't ever recall seeing so many birds on a car. On the Toyota in the foreground, though a few are hard to see because of how they blend into the background, are at least 9 birds. I can always tell when it is fall, at least in other places, by all the birds. You might also notice the power lines in the background that have a 100 or more birds sitting on them.
