Nova launcher disables tap to wake/sleep

I finally got my phone set up the way I wanted it using nova launcher and some icon themes. The first thing I tested was the tap to wake/sleep as I was disappointed to find out doesn't work. Does anyone using nova launcher have it working and can tell me how to do it?

I'd be willing to get a different launcher if it works with the tap feature but my first choice is to get it working with nova. Is anyone else using a custom launcher and the tap feature is working?

Sorry, don't mean to hijack your thread, but does anyone know if the quick circle still works with Nova Launcher?

I have the paid version.

From the beginning tap-to-wake worked fine, but tap-to-sleep was broken.

I ended up downloading an app called "Screen Off and Lock." After installing, you can then use Nova (in the gestures menu) to run SOaL on a double-tap. Been working perfectly since setting that up.

I actually didn't try the tap to sleep, my bad. I just tried it for the first tone and it worked like you said. So it's just the tap to sleep that's broke. I hope they fix nova but I can give that app a try if it's my only option.

I dl'ed the Screen Off app, set it to the double tap gesture, and it works perfectly!

I liked the LG ui, but missed the customization of Nova. Now, everything is perfect!

I don't think it's a defect with Nova; it could be enhanced with the option to assign a screen off action to the double-tap gesture, but I don't think it's something they need to fix. I'd say it's probably just the LG folks that are noticing its absence.

Anyway, the Screen Off and Lock workaround has been on my G3 since day 1 and I have zero issues with it. Seamless (and you can hide the app from your drawer w/ Nova if you REALLY want to pretend it's not there!).

You can just download a screen off app from the play store. They assign a Gesture to activate this app. I use the double tap Gesture, and it works just like the lg feature you lose when running Nova.

I thought I'd take a moment to explain why double tap does not put the G3 to sleep when using Nova Launcher or any other launcher.

As we all know, double tap turns the screen off when you double tap on a blank (empty) area of your homescreen (or any of the secondary screens). However, when you use a 3rd party launcher, what LOOKS like a blank/empty area of the screen to you and me -- isn't actually blank/empty as far as the G3 is concerned. That blank/empty looking area actually has the skin of the launcher occupying that space; and therefore double tap does not work.

That is also why double tapping the notification bar works (the launcher skin does not cover that area), and why a good work around is installing Screen Off and Lock, and assigning the double tap gesture to run the Screen Off and Lock application, which then turns off the screen.

As of now. Nova Launcher does support double tap homescreen to put the G3 to sleep. Go to gestures and click double tap to lockscreen and then choose root. It does work. If your having problems or dont have root, choose to set it as an administrator.
