This might be a silly question. I have a really old GT-I5510M Samsung phone that I found in a drawer that I thought I threw out long ago. I have no interest in using it as a phone, but I'd actually like to use it for one particular Google Play Store app via my home internet.

Except, I can't log into a valid Google account to get into Play Store. I assume it's because the phone is so outdated. I can't even get into Play Store via the browser because Play Store says the browser is no longer supported, LOL.

Is it possible to update the phone somehow or is it pointless?

Welcome to Android Central! That phone only got as high as Gingerbread. The Play Store requires at least Lollipop these days. As rvbfan suggested, it's best to recycle the phone.

I agree with others , you can find something a little more newer on the market like swappa/Amazon etc..
