Phone says battery is charging when it's NOT plugged in.

i took the battery away while on. then cleaned and gently separate the contacts a little with a cutter's edge
it worked. thanks for the tips!

when i plugged charger its not start charging

i am having moto g 3rd generation, i am facing problem in my phone that when i connect charger its not start charging, when i switched it off and let the charger connect its showing charging, but when i turned it on its showing charging but actually not charging.
also its showing charging sign even when charger not connected.

This solution worked for me like a charm. I took a small pin and slightly (very slightly) tried to move the charging/usb-c pin on the phone and it worked. Thank you so much!
PS: This worked for me for my issue on Pixel 2 XL.
