S3 GT I9305 problems with Gmail App. Help!

My local phone shop helping me to speed up the phone deleted some "Unused" apps and cleared cache for me today.
This evening notice I can see new Emails but can't open them, or any others for that matter(Continuous progress gif)
Also I'm unable to send emails, only able to fill in the address and subject line but can't type in the email body. Send button doesn't work and cancelling the attempt it says "Saving to Drafts", ...which it doesn't!
HELP!

Yes, two Gmail accounts and also a Hotmail.co.uk account.
just spent over an hour on my service provider's web chat facility and they were obsessed with the need to do what they called a "Master Reset" which would have required a full phone back-up!
I really didn't believe that was necessary but had tried all the options advised by Google help except the one where they suggest hitting the "Remove Account" button!
That was a step too far for m, could imagine my life flashing before my screen!!

Since then, I thought maybe just force stop the App.
...brilliant, it's working normally again!
