Samsung a3 (2017) will not pair via blutooth with a 2015 skoda octavia mk3

I have tried connecting via bluetooth pairing my samsung a3 (2017) with my car- a skoda octavia mk3.
The phone is recognized by the car entertainment centre/ phone etc- and like wise the mobile phone recognizes the car entertaimt/phone (BT2928. The entainmt/phone provides an access key and asks if its the same on the mobile- however nothing appears on the mobile!. Eventually the car entainmt/ phone times out- not paired. I have tried saying yes to the ent/phone but fails connecting earlier. The s4 s7 s8 and even the earlier a3 recieve an access code and pair ok.
I have contacted samsung, they say the hardware is different and protocols, and suggest contacting skoda and asking them for a software update.

Does any one have any suggestions? ps its a new phone bought from Amazon

Thanks for looking into the question.
Checked the updates using the VIN code ref there are no bluetooth up dates, maps and radio only.
