I have a Samsung tablet that has a health monitoring kiosk installed. I’d like to repurpose it as a regular tablet. But whatever I do it always reboots, reinstalls the health program, and refuses to let you do anything else.

Here is what I’ve tried:

  • Downloaded ODIN3 and the firmware package
  • Extracted the PIT from the firmware
  • Rebooted into Download mode, applied the PIT and firmware using ODIN3, resulting in a PASS
  • Rebooted into Recovery mode and did a Factory Wipe
Where is this health kiosk install hiding such that the above is not wiping it clean?

Sounds like you bought this second hand because that isn't normal behavior. My guess is a business owned this prior and kiosk type setups are specifically designed to prevent what amounts to tampering (it's assuming the business still own it and is essentially protecting itself).

Hopefully you can contact whoever put that on there and get an unlock code or whatever is needed to remove it. If you bought it from a reseller, then getting it unlocked may not be possible and I would try to return it for a full refund or exchange.
