I apologize in advance in case this question has already been covered, but what's exactly the purpose of a lock screen without any security check? Is b*tt dial a real issue with smart phones? Even if the screen would be sensitive to it, you can just turn it off before popping it in your pocket.

Btw I currently organize my glance-at widgets on my home screen.

On some phones you can take the lock screen off completely, and if not, there is an app that can do that:

It is for that reason you mentioned yourself: to prevent accidental dials as well as the unwanted opening of apps.

I do wonder about the probability of accidental dials. Lock screeners, how often did it happen to you before you enabled LS? Unless it has been that way since day one.

Well, it stopped my grandkids from messing with my phones & tablets until they were 2.... In my line of work it is not uncommon for me to pull my phone out of one of my my pockets and out yet already be turned on. Without the slide to unlock, I would probably b*tt dial often or open random apps.

Let's not forget about when someone texts you and the phone is in your pocket. Lock screen (swipe screen) comes in handy there. I like to have notifications pop up when the screen is off. If I don't notice the notification the phone harmlessly turns the screen on and off in my pocket.
