Stuck in landscape mode after watching movie.

2013 nexus 7, on kit-kat, stock unrooted, and locked. After I watch a movie that I either download from my pc or download from my cloud storage, MediaFire, my nexus is stuck in landscape mode. This only happens with non Google movies. Is there a setting that I have missed. This is not a problem per say as it works fine after a reboot.

Perhaps it's a problem with the app you're using to play the movies? Have you tried a different player?

Have you tried fiddling with the 'AUTO ROTATE' toggle to see if you can get it unstuck without having to resort to a reboot?

Tried the auto rotate toggle no joy, I am using mx player will change my defaults to the stock player to see what that does.

Same thing happening after I watch a game on twitch, gets stuck. The only thing that resolves it is if I open an app that forces portrait mode and them back out of it. Nothing rooted, stock everything
