trying to update 2.2

mesmerize "2.2" update i have down load update to computer. tells me to After installing Kies Mini, connect the Mesmerize via USB cable and choose to synchronize through the desktop software not sure about this?. Make sure you backup all your personal data, as data loss may occur after upgrading.
Insert the USB data cable into the phone and then into an available port on the computer. Select Samsung Kies from the phone when i do the phone tells me Attention usb is connected ,remove the cable??when i do it goes away ??very confused

Which instructions are you using? These instructions have pictures and screenshots and seem to be very detailed. Try following this step by step and let us know how it works out.

New to android here and want to upgrade to 2.2 do u need a internet connection on your pc to upgrade?

Yes you do...if you don't have internet on your computer you could take the phone to the US Cell store and they can update it.

Since this seems to have turned into a problem thread, let my post my problem.
Kies keeps saying unregistered device on Firmware Version, and nothing on Firmware Upgrade. What should I do?
I can provide a link to a picture of the problem.
