any good usb tethers?

I tried both hotspot widget and quick settings, but went with quick settings because it also replaced the power control widget and flashlight. Since it launches with a long press of the seach key I cleared 6 spaces off my home screen. I noticed with both once the hotspot was enabled it looked identical in the notification bar, even kept the same network name I set between both. Does this mean they are simply enabling a built in tether in the system that otherwise is hidden?

I was also wondering if anyone had tried a USB tether on their Optimus V? Is it faster? Which (free) app are you using? Any work without root?

Yes, they enable the same built in system in the phone. Virgin merely hid the app.

As for USB tether, you need the LG drivers, and supposedly, it will work. I haven't used it though. Others I believe have. However, some of the roms floating around can break this.

I simply used Launcher Pro Plus to set this up as a short cut on my dock :)

Why don't you contribute something instead of badmouthing everyone else's attempts to help, hmm?

Whar r u even talkin about... The guy who made this thread was disrespecting me in other threads when I tried helping someone else... N I didnt bad mouth anybody else.. I just stated a fact of how small the widget was.. And if u were a new android owner hotspot widget is much easier

Your welcome :). Oh and 56kb is more than I'm willing to give to an app when I already have brought the stock app out of hiding

I dont understand y ppl r tryin to act like their idea is best for everything... Luancherpro takes up over 3mb compared to hotspot widget 56kb... No im not the one that found this I was just telling others that read this thread how easy it is

I'm just trying to help and throwing in what I personally would do myself. Keep in mind the way I've done this is not a feature of Launcher Pro but a hidden feature within this devices OS itself. Oh and Launcher Pro Plus is sweet. I can't see anyone being happy using the stock Launcher if they've used Launcher Pro

There are 3 apps in the Market named "Quick Settings". Which one are you talking about?

EDIT: never mind, I tried two of them and neither one exposes the Hotspot feature (one from Sergej Shafarenka and the other from APS Technology). The third one (Android Application Team) is just a rip off of Sergej's app.
