At last a working TWRP custom recovery is available for the OnePlus 6T.
A custom recovery is useful for not only flashing custom ROM's and mods but also for nandroid backups in case an update goes wrong and you need to revert to a previous backup as well as backing up your /efs file.
Providing you follow the instructions in the link below, you can install TWRP and root your phone with Magisk without risk of displaying files in encryption.
I have used this on successfully on my Global model running OOS 9.0.6. Just read the thread, carefully and thoroughly before proceeding... particularly if you own the carrier minority variant for T-Mobile (USA).
