Unable to tether S22 to Mac Air using USB cable

I connect USB cable to S22 to Mac Air.

from S22 settings -> connections -> mobile hotspot and tethering -> mobile hotspot = ON, USB tethering = ON.

from Mac Air -> System settings -> Network, i DO NOT see my S22, and I do not know how to add it. From everything I read online, once i turn ON the tethering settings on my S22, i should automatically see my S22 in the Mac Air network.

any help would be appreciated.

Mac cannot tether to Android by usb.
Have you tried wifi?

i was able to do it in the past with my previous Macbook 12".

unless Apple changed something for the Mac M2.

Some do, some don't.
