I love how Moto and Verizon have been quiet. There has been no announcement yet about the US version but yet it just got officially announced in Europe and there will be a Wifi version for sure in Europe. With pre-sale supposedly starting this Thursday I am wondering when this thing will get announced. Are they going to announce it Wednesday and then hope they get tons of pre-orders on Thursday? They need to get this thing announced.

Motorola Mobility to Bring Motorola XOOM? to Europe

BARCELONA - Mobile World Congress 2011 ? Feb. 14, 2011 - Motorola Mobility Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: MMI) today announced Motorola XOOM? 3G/WiFi?-enabled version as well as a WiFi-only version will be available in Europe beginning in Q2 2011. The tablet will be demonstrated at Mobile World Congress this week at the Motorola booth in Hall 8, Booth No. 8A51.

"Motorola XOOM re-defines what the tablet experience should be. The Honeycomb user experience improves on Android favorites such as widgets, multi-tasking, browsing, notifications and customization, and also features the latest Google Mobile innovations such as Google Maps 5.0 with 3D interaction. Video and other rich web content plays seamlessly with Adobe? Flash? Player.

Honestly, that's no more of an announcement than this was: http://mediacenter.motorola.com/Pre...argest-and-Most-Reliable-3G-Network-353f.aspx

As for an availability/pricing announcement, I actually expect it to happen this Wednesday or Thursday. I always figured it would happen during Mobile World Congress. If it would have happened before, then the recent announcements of products (Galaxy Tab 10.1, G-Slate, etc) would have overshadowed the Xoom announcement.

I think part of the problem for those of us here in the U.S. is that for now, the Xoom is totally Verizon exclusive. Which means, yes, technically it's Motorola's device, but Verizon has the final say on release and such. The fact that Motorola hasn't come out with some specific date is more on the shoulders of Verizon, IMO.
