What is the f aperture on the 8mp lens you provided that it was 1.8 of the 16 MP camera but not the 8 or are they the same?

It's is definitely not 1.8.

The wide angle lens checks in at f/2.4

Thanks for the follow up vansmack......... its much slower then if I am understanding correctly compared to the 1.8 isn't that the speed that it is able to capture?

Wide angle lenses are a completely different beast, and you don't need the same depth of field advantage of f/1.8. f/2.4 is actually fairly decent for a fixed wide angle lens.

They're designed primarily for landscapes and f/2.4 is going to be fine.

FYI Wide angle lenses are not for capturing a big wide area as the general public seems to believe. They're best used for getting in close.

Lens aperture of small numbers is wider, they let in more light. Wider apertures create a shallow depth of field. This is useful for some uses and detrimental to others. Toy cameras like we have in cell phones don't have adjustable aperture, a handicap to photographic art.

Good pictures are made by good photographers-not cameras.
