Where do the downloaded documents go?

They come in email, they download and it says they go somewhere called "phone storage". They are not located in the "Downloads" icon app. How do I find them? Thanks in advance.

Use a file manager like ES File Explorer File Manager and look in the actual Download (or Downloads) folder on your device.
