Why am I unable to access the internet over 4G connection using some apps (Moto X 2013)?

(Moto X 2013) Unable to access internet over 4G connection using some apps

Hi, I am not able to access internet connection using some applications on my Moto X 2013. Here's a list of what works and what not:
Works:
- Chrome
- Twitter app
- Maps app

Does not work:
Chrome incognito mode (Server not returning data)
Opera (Server not returning data)
Firefox (Connection reset)
Gmail App (No connection)
Play Store (No connection)

My phone is , Android 4.4.4, Build number KXA21.12-L1.29.1, Motorola X8 Mobile Computing system.

Any help much appreciated.

Is this a new problem? Was there ever a time when those apps worked?
Also, is the device one you bought new or used?
