screen goes back on when i hit home button. it never used to do that

Welcome to Android Central! When you hit the home button or when you hit the dial button? If it goes black once the call is initiated, and if the phone isn't up against your ear, then the proximity sensor might be malfunctioning. Make sure there isn't anything obscuring the sensor, which is right near the front-facing camera. This can include your finger, a dirty screen protector, or an ill-fitting case.

Same here, but I do have a tempered glass protector on my screen so I will check it out.
