Why is my Pincode not responding

[Android Central Question]

The unlock code on my LG K10 (2017) is no longer opening my phone. Each time I punch in my PIN it says "try again" It doesn't say incorrect password. And I have tried it more than a thousand time same message (try again). I am not locked out, I am not given option to open the phone with my gmail. Anyone know what can help? I don't want to format the phone because I don't want to lose my data.

There isn’t much that you can try apart from Factory Resetting, but see whether booting into Safe Mode helps. Tell us if not.

Even Factory Resetting may not help, if the trouble is caused by failure of some kind.

Welcome to Android Central! Does the screen show you little highlight animations of where you tap on the PIN entry screen? If so, are they definitely highlighting the numbers you press? I ask this because if there's a problem with the screen, perhaps it's registering touches elsewhere. This can happen with a damaged screen or sometimes a poorly fitting screen protector. If you have the latter, try taking it off.
