Why the gallery images modified date changes automatically?

Recently I observed a strange thing on my moto g9 power gallery. I use a simple google gallery. Some images which were stored more than 3 years ago suddenly appeared on the top of my gallery and the modified date changed to a very recent date automatically. The images are mainly of whatsapp media file. But I did not move or transfer any file recently. Is this a indication of my device security being compromised.

Welcome to Android Central! Something like this would almost certainly not have anything to do with security. As long as you follow basic security guidelines, it's very difficult to be hacked on Android:

What do you mean that the images are "mainly of WhatsApp media file"? Are you saying they're photos that were sent to you by someone else over WhatsApp? Or are they photos that you uploaded to WhatsApp?
