Will a US nexus 4 work in the UK ?

I'm a US citizen residing in the UK for the next 2 years. I really want a nexus but buying the phone in British Pounds is at least an extra 100 USD. If I buy the phone in the states will it work in the UK ?

Absolutely.

I took my Nexus 7 to the UK in Sept. It worked great. Plus if you have a Google Voice account and an app that uses it (i. e. GrooveIP) you can make free (right now anyway) phone calls to land lines in the US and Canada.

I misread your original post. I'm not sure about the Nexus 4 and it's cell capabilities.

If you put a UK Sim card in a US nexus it will work just fine.

The N4 supports all 4 GSM bands and all 5 common UMTS bands, so it'll work anywhere with GSM and will have fast data anywhere with UMTS. It'll definitely work in Europe.

I'm not sure if Europe and the US get the exact same phones (I'm guessing yes), but they support the same bands regardless.

The nexus4 is sold unlocked and without carierware. This means it can be used worldwide on any GSM network.
