I have run into the same problems as many here, got the second GB update/patch, rebooted, got the out of space message, and now when I try to update again, the phone never reboots. Well, I did some digging with Android System Info and found these errors in the logs:

11-16 17:47:21.543 W/RecoverySystem(240)!!! REBOOTING TO INSTALL CACHE:6cad8272f75b.OTA_Incredible_C_Gingerbread_S_VERIZON_WWE_4.08.605.2-4.06.605.3_release_222219.zip !!!

11-16 17:47:21.563 E/SystemUpdateService(240)reboot to install failed
I'm hoping this is enough for some people to start figuring out the issue. I really do not want to reset just to fix this.

"We" out here in the real world discover all these issues, the big problem is that big red in their Ivory Tower and HTC don't seem to troll the forums here or anywhere else to see these things, and go on blythely believing that everything is hunky dory. I challenged whomever is out on Twitter for VZW Support to start reading these things, and never got a reply.

@VZWSupport Droid Incredible upgrade...was the patch to 4.08 pulled? So far I am hearing nothing but bad about yesterday's upgrade to 4.06.

@VZWSupport But is the DINC update bricking phones again like the September updates did? What assurances does VZW give?

@PeninaD 4.08 is being released to correct the alerts we received for the previous upgrade. Did you complete the upgrade when alerted? ^YK

Where did you find that error log? I'm having similar issues in that I get the download for 08.605.2. It downloads and asks me to reboot which I respond yes to and it does nothing. I just sits there and says it's rebooting.

I have booted into recover and cleared the cache multiple times. I have to reset the date every time to get the download to start. I don't get any error message stating that I'm out of memory so I don't think that's my problem.

If you can point me to the error log that you found above I want to see what it says about my reboot that hanging.

Thanks in advance.

i get this also but for the 4.06 update only. it says rebooting but never does. just sits there. i'm thinking of using the 4.06 ruu file from Stock Images | PvilleComp's but waiting to hear if i'll get the 4.08 patch as soon as i'm done.
