Droid X Multitouch Keyboard

Okay so I've tried numerous Droid X keyboard hacks and it seems as if forever reason it does not want to install, no matter how many different methods or "fix's" I've tried. Apparently I'm not the only one having this issue on the fascinate (I suppose it's trying to replace the stock Android keyboard completely, which is what is causing the installation issues). I've tried everything from placing it on the root of the SD card and installing it with a file manager to placing it directly in the system directory, nothing seems to be working.

My question is does anybody here know of either a different way of going about it, a fix or a different hack or different version that will work? Call me crazy but I do prefer not to root if I don't have to (please, no bashing )

I dropped the DXkeyboard apk in the /system/app directory.
I had to remove the latinime apks to keep it from force closing.
That's it.
It's worked for weeks now.
