simple question i hope

just giving you an idea of where i am on the phone---i hit menu go into settings, go into sd card & phone storage. it shows me my external and internal total space of GB. ok now i plug my usb cable into my computer, on the phone i drop the panel down i hit the usb icon which then it says mount or dont mount. when i hit mount my external sd card total space says unavailable. should that happen????

yes. the phone gives the sd card to the pc. at this point you can no longer access the sd card from the phone. once you unmount the phone will scan the sd card and remount to the phone.
