Return to stock on ubuntu

This is my first post in the Fascinate forum. I am coming from an Inc. I use Ubuntu on my laptop and can not find anything on getting back to stock or rooting with Ubuntu. I also see root instructions but only for Windows. Am I stuck without a Windows pc?

I dont think there are any linux drivers for the phone.

I tried connecting with a virtualbox install of windows xp running inside of Ubuntu, but it never worked properly. I was able to connect with Odin, but i could never get it to transfer the files. It would see the phone and i would get the yellow box showing i was connected, but it would hang before sending the files to the phone and just sit there.

My fix was to setup a ubuntu/windows dual boot on my home machine so i could boot into windows to play with my phone.

Looks like a pretty good guide. If i can get ubuntu up and running on this pos laptop i have laying around my office i might give this a shot.
