what is the best/correct folder structure to for my music folder path?

I originally just copyied my musicfolder (titled, "joes music folder") from my pc to my sd card-so the path is just sd card\joes music folder\ song title
Then only about 30 songs showed up in both stock music players and the other 2000 songs showed up under unknown artist\joes music folder in my music apps. I then tried changing my music folder on my sd card to just "music" and now my music is just showing up in my music player apps under unknown artist\music folder then my song tiltles. should I just dump the songs on my sd card without a folder or should I put each song from each album from each band in their respective folders? Please help. I havent had an androoid since 2.3. Thanks guys.

I use itunes to organize my music, and use iSyncr (from the playstore) to sync it to my S3.
I never tried just to copy/paste a whole folder. However an example of my folder structure on windows.

C:\Users\peter\Music\Elton John\Rare Masters\Planes.m4a
