Just out of curiosity, If I hook up a USB Drive with USB OTG to my S4 (rooted) and have music files on it will the native music player see the files and playlists there? What about the gallery and pictures?
Thanks!

short answer = yes
explanation = just plugged up my micro sd card into my OTG cable, connected to my (rooted) S4 and a file explorer app popped up showing all the files on the card. the music files were represented with a 'Sound player' icon--tapping it opens up 'Sound Player' and the music plays just fine through whichever music app i chose to play it (ES File explorer / Play Music / Sound Player). Also, all other video or picture files opened properly for display/playing.
(uncertain if you need an OTG compatible app like Stickmount to operate)
