fyi - VM raising rates?...:/

Sort of...
Current rates are:

$25 for 300
$40 for 1200
$60 for unlimited
Plus $10 for Blackberries.

So yes, the cheapest plan went up $10, the middle plan went up $5 and unlimited came down $5 (which matches Cricket).
A great deal for those on unlimited, and even $35 is still not bad. There is also a chance it won't effect us until we change plans or phones.

Side note, why is that so darn pixelated but only in certain spots. Looks like it may be fake.
The rates me be going up, but I kind of wonder about that picture. The pixelation is odd, and it's missing some standard information. It also isn't following the standard layout for Virgin.

Preparing for mass outrage in 3.... 2.... 1....

Anyways, Verizon's plans are basically $90 plus if you want a smartphone, so it's still stupidly cheaper.

Why be surprised with the plan i use it is only 5 dollars, not saying this caused the price hike but i am sure there are plenty o cheap morons getting home internet through the hot spot exploit.still a great deal over contract phones.

Please please please let the old rate folks keep what they have. That's what VM has done in the past with plans.

On my old Kyocera K9 phone, I had their old .25 for the first 10 minutes, .10 a minutes after that plan. And even after they changed it they just let me keep it, even when I switched phones (to a Flare, then an Arc). It's only when I switched plans that it went away for good, which makes sense.

i had no doubt they would do this after announcing a phone like the Triumph.

growing pains.

I have a super tight budget that doesnt really spare for more than the 25 for the next 6 months or so. if this change happens soon its going to suck pretty hard, unless they let current customers keep the 25$ plan until they change phones. which would be perfect by me. 35 aint bad, i just cant swing it for awhile

I called Virgin mobile about an hour ago asking about porting a number over.

Take it with a grain of salt but she told me that the this is all just a rumor.

I know in another thread that someone had trouble finding a $25 top up card. Maybe this is a sign that they are about to switch plan costs?

IMHO They are just doing what ever other carrier is doing: making the cost of getting more airtimes minutes much cheaper. I do think they would have been better of only raising the lowest plan by $5 to $30. Maybe their research shows that more people than we think are on their upper two plans.

Or the people on the bottom plan were also found to be using most of the data, hot spots and stuff.

By raising the 25 to 35 and leaving the minutes the same, they are probably trying to entice people to step up to the 45 plan.

If this is all real of course.

Well Virgin Mobile has grown alot this year with there pre-paid andriod phones bringing in alot of new customers.

i have serious doubts this is real...

i would think they would give advance warning of any rate increases that would happen
