I have a rooted/modded phone. Running just a stable CM7 on it without problems for about 6 months now. Picture messaging is all of a sudden not working. I contact Virgin mobile because I thought it had to do with an error I received about data roaming (live about 2 blocks from Mexico).

This was their reply:
With Virgin Mobile, there is no roaming. No roaming means no roaming
charges.

You can use your Virgin Mobile phone anywhere in Virgin Mobile and
extended digital coverage areas across the U.S., Puerto Rico, and the
U.S. Virgin Islands.

We reset the picture messaging feature in your account on 5/6/2013. We
would like to have your phone programmed, here are the steps to program
your phone.

MDN: XXX XXX XXXX
MSID: XXX XXX XXXX

1) Power the phone on
2) Press the Phone icon on the Home screen
3) Dial ##VIRGIN# (that's #-#-8-4-7-4-4-6-#)
4) Tap Edit
5) Tap the Enter MDN or MDN field
6) Enter the 10-digit phone number and tap OK
7) Tap the Enter MSID or MSID field and enter the 10-digit MSID
8) Tap OK
9) Tap Done
10) The phone will turn off and turn back on by itself.

That's it, you're done. It might take a couple of minutes to get you set
up on our network to start talking. Also it may take up to 4 hours for
VirginXL, voicemail, and Top-Up features to come online. But we bet
you'll find us worth the wait. Enjoy.

Am I safe to try this or will it ruin the root access?

Thank you for your knowledge and help

You probably can't even type that virgin code into cm7. You need to do it on a virgin based rom. So nandroid your current setup and flash that rom. Try LeslieAnn's http://forums.androidcentral.com/op...royo-activation-troubleshooting-12june12.html

I had some signal issues with my Op V a few weeks back. Communicated with Virgin Angels via email (the best way to resolve things, IMO). The tech suggested typing in the ##VIRGIN# code. Didn't work with my CM7 ROM, and I since installed Quattrimus and it doesn't work on there either. Of course, I didn't tell that to the tech.

Flash a stock or Froyo ROM as already suggested.
If no backup of a stock ROM and the Froyo ROM didn't work (Should work though), then do the ZV9 update which will return phone to bone stock state (Stock recovery as well).
You will need to use the Gordita root exploit to root again. Either the jcase root me.zip or the EManU3XX root.zip.

Yep, I wasn't about to do that either. Did your signal issues resolve? I've been experiencing that too.

I did a factory reset from recovery before I flashed the ICS ROM. It helped, as does running ICS, which is a bit quicker. I still get crappy signals around here, though.
