Google Play Detects Chromebook as a Phone Instead of Tablet

I have an Acer Chromebook R13 and love it but my one gripe is Google Play detects it as a phone instead of tablet so I cannot download the tablet version of apps would would be better supported on the screen size and orientation. Does anyone know if there is a way to change how GP detects the type of device being used? As a result of this, I had to enable developer mode on the Chromebook just so I could sideload the DirecTV app for tablets which I extracted from my Nexus 9.
